An association to unite us all who teach English professionally has been created. The aim is to share experiences, exchange materials and encourage further training with conferences, lectures and debates and ultimately become the voice of teachers of English and liaise with all those involved and especially with our educational authority.

TEACHER TRAINING
ELT CONFERENCE 2011
The British Council is pleased to announce its 4th annual ELT Conference, which this year will take place on Saturday 1st October .
As in previous years, we hope to offer a range of high quality and engaging sessions with a real focus on practical classroom application.
The title of this year’s conference is: 5 key issues in ELT, and we will be dividing the sessions into five thematic areas:
  • Practical ICT usage in the classroom
  • Teaching English to Primary students
  • Teaching English to Secondary students
  • Teaching English to adult students
  • Bilingual education and CLIL

The British Council’s Outreach programme works with local teaching communities and Teachers Associations and encourages participants and speakers from both state and private sectors to take part. If you would like to propose a session, send us your talk title, abstract (60-70 words) and bio-data before 15th July. We hope to be able to publish a pre-programme and timetable in September.

APAVAC MEMBERSHIP

Dear members&membars;at  both our  AGM (Annual General Meeting) in Valencia and the Alicante meeting the need to find a new formula for membership  paying arose. We are looking for a user friendly  way both for members and our treasurer.
There is a suggestion to pay annually by standing order (recibo domiciliado) but that takes a bit of effort from our present and future associates as you will have to instruct your bank..etc. We are in touch with our man in CRM (Miguel Olmo)  to find a formula unfussy enough for everyone .
Currently wire transfers (transferencias) are being used  but it seems that some find this  clumsy and inconvenient.
Of course if you have any ideas please don't hesitate to contact us as we are really only poor ignorant English teachers who just about stumble to keep this organisation together.

PS: Shortly we will let you know about our First APAVAC conference 14-15 october.

more wothwhile links

Ann Foreman, ICT coordinator at  British Council in Bilbao area and a friend of APAVAC made the document below available to EFL teachers. The first link is the version shared through  Google documents where attitudes&involvement towards ITCs are discussed. The second link is the same document as a PREZI presentation, that is a very dynamic and original new way of sharing documents.

Our third link is a blog hosted by a Brazilian EFL teacher, Cecilia Lemos Coelho,  recommended by the aforementioned Anne Foreman. It is brimming with enthusiasm and covers her discovery of ITCs and E-Learning as well as more traditional EFL teaching.

Enjoy
