An association to unite us all who teach English professionally has been created. The aim is to share experiences, exchange materials and encourage further training with conferences, lectures and debates and ultimately become the voice of teachers of English and liaise with all those involved and especially with our educational authority.

APAVAC at 9th British Council Valencia Teaching Conference

Member Teresa Perles introduced the Edmodo way of integrating ICTs at the BC conference last  1 October

“LEARNING GETS PERSONAL: DIFFERENTIATING INSTRUCTION WITH EDMODO"

In her own words:

Edmodo is a learning management system enjoyed by over 64 million users all over the world. Its powerful features allow teachers to communicate with students and parents, share resources, set quizzes, polls and assignments, and much more. We will see how I implement these features to differentiate the scaffolding I provide for my students through the phases of content introduction, controlled practice and free writing practice, and how I use it to integrate different digital tools in just one place. If time allows, we will see how it can be used for gamification and silent debate, or language exchange programs, too.
At the end of the session, the participants will have working knowledge of Edmodo and ideas on how to implement it in their practice.

ABOUT TERESA:
I have been a teacher of English as a Foreign Language for over 30 years. After being in the sector of ‘Academias’ for a long time, I started working for Alfa & Omega School in Denia, Alicante, where I am the Head of English Department. I am also an Edmodo Ambassador and Certified Trainer. I was a speaker at Edmodocon 2015 (San Mateo, CA) and at EICE 2016 (Valencia.)
I strongly believe that technology is going to play a very important role in our pupils’ future and try to help them acquire these skills while
