An association to unite us all who teach English professionally has been created. The aim is to share experiences, exchange materials and encourage further training with conferences, lectures and debates and ultimately become the voice of teachers of English and liaise with all those involved and especially with our educational authority.

ESP Seminar : English in Vocational Training

Last Saturday morning (12 May) APAVAC   held our  I ESP (English for Vocational Training) Seminar in Alicante. All in all it  was  a great opportunity for sharing and learning and as one of our colleagues commented  "...this seminar was an important step forward. We English teachers are still trying to be professionals despite our difficult situation."
Organizing this event implied  a lot of effort and we are proud of the outcome. We also devoted resources belonging to our membership to make the event free for all. Resources which regretfully were wasted when a number of the people who had registered did not turn up on the day without  notice. All those attending were invited at the coffee-shop next door during the break. Coffee and pastries were wasted and we also had to apologise to Ristorante Prego  where 22 meals had been booked. To avoid disappointments we would kindly  ask those registering for future events to let us know in advance in case they cannot make it.
We would like to thank Catalina Iliescu, Director of  Seu Universitaria Ciudad de Alicante who granted  their  wonderful premises, Dr José Mateo and Dr Victoria Guillén who provided the theoretical basis with highly interesting  lectures, Amparo Fernández, Isabel Berenguer, Carmen Antón and Vicente Sánchez who contributed with a hands-on approach of their daily practice. We would also like to thank publishers Oxford University Press, McMillan  and Pearson-Longman  who showed  their ESP materials. The last two generously gave away a number of  valuable items for our prize-draw.
