An association to unite us all who teach English professionally has been created. The aim is to share experiences, exchange materials and encourage further training with conferences, lectures and debates and ultimately become the voice of teachers of English and liaise with all those involved and especially with our educational authority.

APAVAC Castelló English Teaching Exchange - 2nd meeting

Local members and some welcome new faces got together earlier this month for the second meeting of the APAVAC English Teaching Exchange. The forum is a platform for English teaching professionals to put their heads together and share ideas, materials and get inspired.

Following on from the first session entitled, ´Dealing with difficulties´, this time the topic up for discussion was Communicative Teaching.

Communicative activities were trialled and tested with a focus on identifying the ´emergent language´ our students are likely to produce and how we can identify and attend to gaps and errors. (See Teaching Unplugged, Scott Thornbury and Luke Meddings, Delta Publishing for more on this.)

Members and attendees then shared their own materials and demonstrated activities they have used in class, with lots and lots of constructive feedback along the way!

A third session is planned to take place at the end of January 2016 with the inspired title of ´Communicative Teaching Part 2´.

APAVAC would welcome those interested to get in touch at

Thanks once again to the generous support of Agora Centro de Estudis, Calle Madrid, for allowing us to hold the event on their premises. Thanks also to Teresa Agost, Nuria Segarra and other local members for their valuable support and contributions.
